The SAS-202 Mk II from Synchronous Systems is a redesigned version of the classic striping interface from Turn Up Communications. The SAS interface is designed to make the DA-88 easier to use in the post-production environment.

When posting a production it is common practice to have different personnel work on different elements of the production at the same time and in various locations. A problem can arise when it is time to bring the various elements together on the mixing stage. If the individual elements do not have a constant relationship between absolute time and SMPTE code the elements will not lock without an offset.

The SAS-202 solves this problem by controlling the SMPTE generator of the DA-88's SY-88 Sync card to force a consistant relationship between the codes. All tapes that have timecode recorded using an SAS-202, no matter where recorded, by whom, or when, will have the same SMPTE to absolute code relationship.
